What does Spanish mean to me?
Spanish is something that has always been around me and I've been able to enjoy some parts of their culture and traditions, but I've never felt very connected to it. Why is learning/knowing more than one language important? Knowing multiple languages opens up opportunities to travel and communicate with many different people. I also think learning a language can help you appreciate their culture on an even deeper level. What topics do I want to learn more about in this class? I am curious to know more about Spanish traditions and the meanings behind them. What am I excited about in this class? I'm excited to immerse myself in the culture and finally get familiar with something that has been so close to me for a long time. |

For this project we learned about the terrible violence that happens in Central America involving gangs, human sex trafficking and abuse. This violence has resulted to a huge increase in migrants trying to get to the United States. We focused on learning about child migrants and the very difficult journey and process it takes just for them to get to a safer place.
For our exhibition we chose one of the five essential questions to focus on. We created a colored pencil drawing that conveyed our answer. |
Project Reflection
For the Borderline Cases project we learned amount the violence that happens in Central America and about the journey of migrants, specifically child migrants, on their way to America. We created an art piece that depicts what we learned and our answer to an essential question. Because my first shift was this one, it was actually pretty slow. I was able to explain my piece to a handful of people and also explain what we learned throughout the semester. I'm proud that I was able to explain everything even if it was something I wasn't so passionate about. |
